Who We Are

Intrusion Defenders (intrusiondefenders.com) is a home defense and security review blog operated and based in Maryland. We publish product reviews, buying guides, news coverage, and educational content about home security cameras, smart locks, alarms, non-lethal defense tools, and home defense planning.

Affiliate Relationships — The Short Version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We earn commissions from programs including, but not limited to:

  • Amazon Services LLC Associates Program — As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
  • Ring Affiliate Program
  • Byrna Technologies Affiliate Program
  • USCCA / US Concealed Carry Association
  • SimpliSafe Affiliate Program
  • B&H Photo Video
  • eBay Partner Network
  • Other affiliate programs we may join from time to time

Affiliate links are how we keep the site free for readers. The commission costs you nothing and does not affect the price you pay.

How Affiliate Relationships Affect Our Reviews

They don’t — and here’s why we can say that with confidence.

We review products we would buy, have bought, or have tested independently. We identify affiliate programs after forming our opinions, not before. When a product isn’t worth the money, we say so even if an affiliate program exists for it.

Our ratings and recommendations are based on:

  • Whether the product actually works as described
  • Whether it fits the use case we’re describing (home defense, security monitoring, etc.)
  • Whether the price is justified relative to alternatives
  • Whether we’d recommend it to a family member

If a product fails those tests, we don’t recommend it regardless of commission rates.

Free Products and Sponsored Content

Occasionally, manufacturers or distributors may send us products for review purposes. When this occurs:

  • We will clearly disclose at the top of the review that the product was provided at no charge
  • Receipt of a free product does not guarantee a positive review or any review at all
  • Our editorial opinions are not for sale

If a post or video is sponsored (i.e., a brand has paid for coverage), it will be labeled “Sponsored” or “Advertisement” prominently at the top.

FTC Compliance

In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), we disclose material connections to brands and products we mention. When you see a link that may generate a commission for us, that is a material connection that we are required to and want to disclose.

Amazon Specific Disclosure

Intrusion Defenders is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Amazon product prices and availability are accurate as of the date and time indicated but may change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of that product. We have no control over pricing or availability changes.

Prices and Availability

Product prices shown on this site are approximate and subject to change without notice. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any listed price. Always check the retailer’s current pricing before purchasing.
